Instead of Flowers
As many of you know my beautiful father passed away on the 16th of June 2008. Whilst living in Jordan Dad had the great pleasure to meet Jean Calder. Jean is an Australian educator, specialising in physical education.
In the early 1980's she travelled to Beruit where she worked with handicapped children. She is still in the Middle East now focusing on the plight of Palestinian children in the Gazza Strip.
Jean is the Director of the Al-Amal City Centre of Ability Development, and regarded worldwide as one of the most eminent leaders in her field.In 2005 she received Australia's highest civil honour in the Order of Australia, the Companion. Appointments as Companions in the General Division recognise eminent achievement and merit of the highest degree.
Her mission impacted Dad greatly. With his passing the family asks those who wish to assist us in our dark times to contribute to Jean's honorable cause. May good come from our momentous personal loss. We hope to hightlight the wonderful work of one of the many individuals who are putting their life on the line for those less fortunate.
